A free K-pop and Korean culture festival returns to Bellevue City Hall Plaza on Saturday, Sept. 26, running from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

RPD+ K-Pop Play Day 2, organized by the nonprofit BigHug, is the second year for the event at the plaza at 450 110th Ave. NE. BigHug, formerly known as the Korean American Resource Center, is a 501(c)(3) led by team members including Eddie Cha and Nick Kim, according to the group's website.

Organizers expect more than 1,500 visitors, up from the first K-Pop Play Day held Sept. 20, 2025, which ran four hours. This year's festival stretches to seven.

The day is built around four themed zones. The RPD+ K-Pop Stage hosts live performances and a Random Play Dance, a crowd-participation format where attendees learn and perform K-pop choreography on the spot. A Seoul Subway Market zone features local food vendors and pop-ups, a nod to this year's Seoul Subway theme. The K-Games Chuseok zone, run in partnership with the University of Washington Korean Student Union, offers games tied to Chuseok, the Korean harvest holiday sometimes called Korean Thanksgiving. A fourth Community zone connects attendees with local organizations.

The festival also includes a public showcase from BigHug's Youth Impact Lab, an opioid prevention education project launched with the City of Bellevue and Bellevue Fire CARES, according to the organization's LinkedIn page.

BigHug said in its event listing that the festival aims to bring people of all cultural backgrounds together through music, dance, games and food. While K-pop and Korean culture anchor the day, the event welcomes attendees of every background.

K-Pop Play Day 2 is funded through the City of Bellevue's Community Programming Fund but is not hosted by the city, according to the city's event page. BigHug partners with Korean student organizations at the University of Washington and the Seattle Korean-American Association.
