Rewind Head Spa opens its second location Wednesday, Oct. 21, at Bellevue's Brierwood Center.

The Kirkland-based scalp-and-hair spa is moving into the Wilburton strip mall that a developer has proposed replacing with a 378-unit apartment building.

The new spa is at 12001 NE 12th St., in the same center as The Goose Pub & Eatery, according to the Downtown Bellevue Network. Rewind specializes in treatments that can include massage, water therapy, steam and finishing care.

Prices start at $100 for the Signature Wash & Style, which the spa markets as an introductory option for first-time guests.

A 70-minute Targeted Services treatment runs $138 and adds a scalp analysis, head-neck-and-shoulder massage, essential-oil steam, deep-cleaning shampoo and a high-frequency comb treatment.

Redevelopment proposal pending

The spa's new home may not stand for long.

In August, American Capital Group submitted a Design Review application to the City of Bellevue to demolish the center's four commercial buildings and build an eight-story mixed-use project called Brierwood Apartments, the Downtown Bellevue Network reported.

The proposal calls for about 378 apartments, roughly 76 of them affordable for households earning up to 80% of the Area Median Income. The building would total about 601,526 square feet, with roughly 7,905 square feet of ground-floor commercial space and structured parking for 413 vehicles.

American Capital Group is also behind a separate 449-unit proposal nearby at 120 116th Ave. NE, on the site of a former AutoNation dealership. Both projects reflect a building boom in Wilburton, where proposals to swap aging car lots and strip malls for apartment towers have multiplied since the city rezoned the area.

The city has also approved a 442-unit apartment tower near the Wilburton light rail station, according to the Downtown Bellevue Network.

No timeline has been announced for when the Brierwood Center redevelopment could begin construction or when existing tenants would need to vacate.
