Bellevue College will host Discovery Day, its annual open house for prospective students and families, on Saturday, Nov. 14, as the school marks 60 years.

The event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Student Success Center, known as the U Building, at 3000 Landerholm Circle SE.

Visitors can explore academic programs, meet faculty and staff, and tour the campus. The college offers 15 bachelor's degrees along with associate degrees, professional and technical programs, certificates and transfer pathways. More than 22,000 students enroll each year.

"Discovery Day is an invitation to anyone asking themselves, 'What's next?'" Bellevue College President David May said in an Oct. 10 announcement. "… Some know exactly where they want to go. Others are just beginning to explore. We're here to help them take that next step."

The open house falls during the college's 60th anniversary year. Bellevue College, founded in January 1966 as Bellevue Community College, has served more than 600,000 students and granted more than 80,000 degrees and certificates over six decades. The school started with about 500 students meeting at Newport High School while its permanent campus was under construction, according to 425 Business.

The anniversary year has brought national recognition. Newsweek ranked Bellevue College No. 1 in Washington in its America's Best Colleges for Women 2026 list. The national organization Achieving the Dream (ATD) named it a 2026 Leader College of Distinction, recognizing sustained results in enrollment, persistence, completion and equity. The college has been part of the ATD network since 2017.

The celebration has also drawn community support. Nearly 200 donors raised a record $415,200 at the college's Diamond Jubilee fundraiser in August to support scholarships, grants and emergency aid, 425 Magazine reported.

The yearlong anniversary wraps with the planned opening of the new W Building, a 56,618-square-foot arts hub with workshops and a makerspace, projected for winter 2027.
