Matcha Magic will close its original café at 10246 Main Street in Old Bellevue on Sunday, Nov. 1.

The building sits on the site of North of Main, an eight-story residential and retail project that will replace every structure on the block. The closure was first reported by Downtown Bellevue Network.

Vander Hoek Corporation's project calls for 176 market-rate apartments, 10,363 square feet of ground-floor commercial space and 154 parking stalls on a roughly 0.71-acre site at Main Street and 103rd Avenue Northeast.

Founder Rachel Barnecut started Matcha Magic on Main Street. The café opened in May 2022 in the former Jujubeet space.

Since then, the brand has expanded to locations in Redmond, Capitol Hill, South Lake Union, New Orleans and Tempe, Arizona. Bellevue-based Conscious Hospitality Group, which also operates Just Poke, SUGO Handroll Bar and HAPS Burgers, runs the café.

Conscious Hospitality Group told Downtown Bellevue Network the company is searching for a new Bellevue location. No site or reopening timeline has been announced.

Matcha Magic joins a growing list of Main Street departures tied to the project. Glassybaby left its storefront at 10230 Main Street, where it had been since October 2009, and opened a larger store Thursday, Oct. 1, at Design Market, 1048 116th Ave. NE.

Veritables, a home furnishings and gift shop at 10220 Main Street, is closing Oct. 15 after 18 years. Owner Marie Harris said the building's ownership decided to redevelop the property. "This is not the last chapter," Harris wrote on Instagram in September.

La Ree Boutique closed Sept. 25, 2025, after 20 years on the street.

North of Main vested under earlier zoning and is exempt from the interim development rules the Bellevue City Council adopted for Main Street in a 4-3 vote on Feb. 10. The council extended those rules through February 2027 in July, but they do not require property owners to keep existing tenants.

No construction start date has been confirmed.
