Bellevue riders heading to Seattle on July 26 will need to board a shuttle bus at South Bellevue Station instead of staying on the 2 Line train. Sound Transit is shutting down the Crosslake Connection all day for planned maintenance, cutting direct rail service across Lake Washington.

The agency published its official service advisory on Wednesday, July 23, confirming the operational details.

What's closed

The segment between South Bellevue Station and International District/Chinatown Station will have no train service for the entire day on Sunday, July 26. Trains on the 2 Line will still run normally between Downtown Redmond and South Bellevue.

How the shuttle works

Sound Transit will run shuttle buses every 10 to 15 minutes between South Bellevue and International District/Chinatown, stopping at all intermediate stations along the route.

Westbound (Bellevue → Seattle): Exit your 2 Line train at South Bellevue Station. Board a shuttle bus to International District/Chinatown. From there, connect to the 1 Line for service toward Lynnwood or Federal Way.

Eastbound (Seattle → Bellevue): Exit at International District/Chinatown Station. Board a shuttle bus to South Bellevue. Reconnect to the 2 Line there for service to BelRed, the Spring District, or Downtown Redmond.

Faster 1 Line service

To offset the gap, Sound Transit will boost 1 Line frequency to every 8 minutes from the start of service until approximately 7 p.m. on Sunday. The 1 Line normally runs every 10 minutes on Sundays, so the enhanced schedule adds roughly 20% more trains on the Lynnwood-to-Federal Way corridor.

Background

The Crosslake Connection opened on Saturday, March 28, 2026, giving Eastside riders their first one-seat rail trip to downtown Seattle. Sound Transit has additional late-evening closures scheduled for Tuesday, July 28, through Thursday, July 30, also for maintenance.

A separate set of late-evening closures between BelRed and Downtown Redmond is planned for Tuesday, August 4, through Thursday, August 6, to replace line surge arresters.
