Bellevue-headquartered Acumatica now employs more than 800 people worldwide after acquiring Vertrax, a longtime energy-industry software partner, the Puget Sound Business Journal reported Tuesday, July 15.

The deal brings in a company whose platform already ran on Acumatica's cloud architecture. Vertrax provides dispatch, delivery logistics, and back-office software for propane, fuel oil, and wholesale fuel distributors, all built on Acumatica's ERP and Amazon Web Services.

That existing technical relationship made Vertrax a natural fit for integration rather than a ground-up rebuild.

For Bellevue, the acquisition extends the local footprint of a tech employer that has grown fast from its Corporate Campus East headquarters at 3075 112th Ave. NE. Acumatica employed roughly 265 people in 2019. By mid-2025, that number had nearly tripled to about 700. The Vertrax deal pushes the company past 800.

The most recent local headcount available is from June 2024, when Acumatica moved into its current more-than-12,000-square-foot Bellevue office and reported about 60 employees in the Puget Sound region.

That figure predates significant company growth, and Acumatica has not disclosed how many Vertrax employees are local or whether the acquisition will add Bellevue-based jobs.

Acumatica is owned by Vista Equity Partners, an Austin, Texas-based private equity firm with more than $100 billion in assets under management. Vista completed its purchase of Acumatica from EQT Partners in 2025 in a deal Bloomberg valued at approximately $2 billion.

Vista also owns Bellevue-based Smartsheet, which it acquired with Blackstone for $8.4 billion, making Acumatica one of at least two Bellevue enterprise software companies in the firm's portfolio.

CEO John Case has led Acumatica since 2022. The company, founded in 2008, serves more than 10,000 customers worldwide across industries including manufacturing, distribution, construction, and retail.

The acquisition price, Vertrax's employee count, and any integration timeline have not been disclosed.
