Doce Donuts is closing its only Eastside location at 1015 108th Ave NE in Downtown Bellevue, putting the shop up for sale roughly 16 months after opening.

The family-owned artisan donut company announced the decision in an Instagram post on Tuesday, Aug. 11, saying it had spent more than a year trying to make the location financially viable. "The math just isn't working," the company wrote.

No closing date has been set. The shop will continue serving donuts and specialty coffee until a buyer is found.

The Bellevue location opened in spring 2025 as Doce Donuts' third shop, joining its Fremont and South Lake Union stores in Seattle, according to Downtown Bellevue Network. Those two locations are unaffected. Signs of trouble surfaced weeks before the closure announcement: a July 2 Instagram post said the Bellevue shop would begin closing at 3 p.m., cutting its hours.

The space at 1015 108th Ave NE, near KidsQuest Children's Museum, has now seen two consecutive food and beverage tenants close within about two years. Café Cesura, a coffee shop that operated there since 2011, closed in October 2024 after receiving a closure order tied to unpaid bills.

The broader corridor faces headwinds. Downtown Bellevue's office vacancy rate climbed from 2.5% in 2019 to 24% by 2025, according to a June 2026 business climate report. Fewer office workers in the area means less weekday foot traffic for small food businesses that depend on lunchtime and afternoon customers.

Doce Donuts is known for its 24-hour fermented brioche dough and Latin American-inspired flavors like tres leches, passion fruit crème and churro dulce de leche. The owners have family roots in Argentina and Venezuela and previously ran a bakery in Florida before relocating to Seattle. The name "Doce," Spanish for "twelve," nods to the Seahawks' 12th-man fanbase.

No buyer has been identified. The shop remains open Wednesday through Sunday.
