Bellevue residents can grab a blanket, pack a picnic and catch a free live brass concert at Ashwood Playfield on July 26 starting at 6 p.m.

Brass Band Northwest, a brass-and-percussion ensemble based in the greater Seattle area, will perform a 90-minute set spanning patriotic tunes tied to the nation's 250th anniversary year, World Cup-inspired soccer anthems, Beach Boys surf classics, anime music and K-pop hits. The concert is free and open to all ages.

The playfield sits at 10820 NE 10th St., next to the Bellevue Regional Library. No tickets are required, but the band encourages attendees to bring their own seating.

A city-backed community program

The concert is funded through a $2,500 grant from the City of Bellevue's Community Programming Fund, according to the city's 2026 CPF award allocations. The event is community-led and not hosted by the city itself.

The CPF is in its second year. In January, the city announced it would support 37 community-led programs with up to $200,000 in total funding, offering individual grants between $1,000 and $20,000. The 2025 pilot reached an estimated 10,000 community members across more than three dozen programs.

"The Community Programming Fund is more than an investment in events — it's helping our plazas and other spaces become community assets," Jesse Canedo, the city's chief economic development officer, said in a January news release announcing the second round of grants.

The group serves as an ensemble-in-residence at Bellevue Presbyterian Church and maintains an annual concert series at First Presbyterian Church of Bellevue.
