Bellevue families looking for a free Tuesday evening out can head to Downtown Park on Tuesday, August 4, for the city's annual National Night Out celebration, running from 5 to 8 p.m.

The Bellevue Police Department is hosting the event at 10201 NE 4th St. in partnership with the Bellevue Downtown Association and the Bellevue Police Foundation. Admission is free.

According to the city's event page, the lineup includes live music from the band 3 Trick Pony, food trucks, free ice cream, a bouncy house, kids' games, and a reptile exhibit featuring snakes, tortoises, and alligators. Families can also explore police vehicles on display, including a Bearcat armored vehicle, motorcycles, and "Fluffy," the department's bomb-disposal robot.

One of the newer draws: a live Drone as First Responder demonstration showcasing BPD's program that deploys drones to calls and feeds real-time information to officers on the ground.

Police Chief Wendell Shirley is scheduled to attend for a meet-and-greet with residents.

The Bellevue Police Department posted a reminder on X on Sunday, urging families to plan ahead and noting the event will feature live music, food, and games for all ages.

National Night Out is a nationwide community-building campaign held annually on the first Tuesday of August. The tradition dates to 1984 and focuses on strengthening police-community relationships in a relaxed, festive setting.

After the NNO activities wrap up, the evening continues with a free outdoor screening of "Zootopia" as part of the Downtown Movies in the Park series. The evening benefits the Bellevue Fire Foundation and Bellevue Police Foundation.

The event is open to residents from every Bellevue neighborhood. No registration is required.
