A rotating lineup of KEXP DJs is turning the ground-floor lobby of a downtown Bellevue office tower into a free public listening room every Thursday afternoon.

The series, called "Late at The Eight," launched Thursday, Sept. 10, at The Eight, a 25-story building on NE 8th Street.

A different KEXP DJ performs each week from 4–7 p.m. through Oct. 15, with five sessions remaining. No tickets, no cover. Walk in and listen.

The collaboration pairs two organizations with roots in Seattle's music and food scenes. Sabine Café & Bar, a Mediterranean-inspired café from Yes Parade Restaurant Group, opened on The Eight's ground floor earlier this year. It is the group's first Eastside location.

The events side comes from Artist Home, an Indigenous-owned company founded in 2008 by former touring musicians.

KEXP DJ Kevin Sur, who is Kānaka Maoli (Native Hawaiian), started Artist Home after moving to Seattle. The company also produces Timber! Outdoor Music Festival and Doe Bay Fest.

On his KEXP profile, Sur has written that he hopes his work at the station helps Indigenous people feel seen, empowered and connected with others who share their history.

425 Magazine first reported on the series. Each week's DJ brings a different sound, though the specific lineup for the remaining dates has not been announced.

Sabine Café & Bar serves brunch from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays and a "Golden Hour" menu from 4–6 p.m., overlapping with the DJ sets. The café is at 10770 NE 8th St., Suite C, in downtown Bellevue.

The next session is Thursday, Sept. 17, at 4 p.m.
