Glassybaby opens its new Bellevue location Thursday, Oct. 1, at Design Market, 1048 116th Ave NE, after 17 years on Main Street.

The hand-blown glass retailer moved out of its Old Bellevue storefront at 10230 Main St. to make way for North of Main, a proposed eight-story residential tower.

The new store sits between California Closets and Marci Jewelry in the Design Market complex, across the street from Overlake Medical Center, as first reported by Downtown Bellevue Network.

To mark the opening, Moonbee Matcha will run a pop-up cafe inside the store from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Oct. 1.

The Design Market space is larger than the old shop, giving the company more room to display its hand-blown glass votives, candleholders and drinkers.

Glassybaby had occupied 10230 Main St. since October 2009. The company announced the move in July after learning the building would be demolished for the North of Main project, which developer Vander Hoek Corporation has proposed for the corner of Main Street and 103rd Avenue NE. Plans filed with the city call for 176 market-rate apartments, 10,363 square feet of ground-floor commercial space and 154 parking stalls.

The project has not received final approval, and no construction start date has been announced.

Glassybaby is the third longtime Old Bellevue business displaced by the redevelopment. La Ree Boutique, founded by Rachael Nov, closed in September 2025 after 20 years on Main Street. Veritables, the home furnishings shop next door at 10220 Main St., plans to close Oct. 15 after 18 years. Owner Marie Harris announced the closing on Instagram in mid-September, writing, "This is not the last chapter."

Lee Rhodes founded Glassybaby in Seattle in 2001 during her own cancer treatment; the company donates 10 percent of sales to cancer-related and other causes. Other businesses in the redevelopment's path include Araya's Place, Lavender Spa and Matcha Magic.

The store opens at 10 a.m. Thursday.
