Second-year quarterback Jalen Milroe fired three touchdown passes and delivered a solid practice on July 28, as the defending Super Bowl champions wrapped their final padless training camp session at the Virginia Mason Athletic Complex in Renton.

For Bellevue-area fans tracking the title defense just 20 minutes down the road, the session offered the first real on-field evidence that Seattle's roster reload is taking shape.

Milroe's breakout day

Milroe, a third-round pick in the 2025 draft, went 2-for-2 on back-to-back first-and-goal drills with sharp timing, then added a third score from the 3-yard line, placing the ball low and away from a defender.

He rolled left and threw a dart across his body for a 12-yard completion, and his final throw of the day may have been his best: under pressure, he hit rookie running back Jadarian Price over the shoulder.

The sophomore quarterback warmed up alongside Drew Lock and Sam Darnold, the starter who led Seattle to its Super Bowl LX title in February.

Knight returns fast

Linebacker Tyrice Knight, who battled a knee injury and a heart issue during the 2025 season, looked noticeably quicker on Tuesday. He looked healthy.

His footwork in positional drills ranked among the fastest on the team, and he was routinely in the backfield during team periods.

Knight's health had been a question mark since Super Bowl LX in February, when he was evaluated for a concussion in the third quarter of Seattle's 29-13 win over New England. His second-half 2024 breakout — three double-digit tackle games after registering just 23 tackles through Week 8 — showed what he can be at full speed.

Secondary rebuilds on the fly

With cornerbacks Riq Woolen and Coby Bryant gone, the Seahawks are filling two starting spots. Bud Clark made the loudest statement Tuesday: he picked off a pass during a red zone drill, sprinted the length of the field, and performed a Marshawn Lynch-style backwards leap into the end zone before punting the ball toward fans on the berm. The crowd loved it.

D'Anthony Bell, filling in for safety Nick Emmanwori (ankle surgery from Super Bowl LX), forced an incompletion with a tight close-out against the first-team offense. Free-agent addition Noah Igbinoghene, signed in March, recovered from a beaten route to break up a pass.

"It's not like we lost him for the season or anything," head coach Mike Macdonald said of Emmanwori at the July 25 camp opener, adding there is no set return timetable.

What's next

The Seahawks shift to full-contact, padded practices this week. HBO's "Hard Knocks" cameras began rolling at the VMAC on July 25, with the five-episode series premiering Tuesday, Aug. 4 on HBO Max.
