Tae Keller, the Newbery Medal-winning author of When You Trap a Tiger, will speak and sign books at Bellevue Library on Sunday, Sept. 20 from 2 to 3 p.m.
The event is free and open to the public.
Keller's appearance is part of the Festival Near You project, which brings Library of Congress National Book Festival celebrations to libraries nationwide.
She was a featured author at the national festival on Aug. 22 in Washington, D.C., according to the King County Library System's event listing.
Her latest novel, When Tomorrow Burns, a New York Times bestseller, was selected by the Washington Center for the Book to represent Washington State in the festival's Great Reads from Great Places program, which spotlights literary achievements from all 50 states and U.S. territories. The Washington Secretary of State's office announced the selection on June 3.
The novel follows three middle school students on a quest to find a book that may save their lives. It is set in Seattle, where Keller lives.
"When Tomorrow Burns is my love letter to the city of Seattle and the Pacific Northwest, and it is such an honor to be this year's youth reader selection," Keller said in the June 3 announcement.
Keller also won the Washington State Book Award for Jennifer Chan Is Not Alone. She lives in Seattle.
The Sept. 20 event will also be available online and recorded for the Washington State Library's YouTube channel. Registration is available through the KCLS website. An in-person book signing follows the talk.
