Bellevue-area Mariners fans have a new name on their TV broadcasts: PEMCO Mutual Insurance is the first presenting sponsor of Mariners TV, the platform that replaced Root Sports ahead of the 2026 season.

The team announced the deal on July 18. Chris Voigt, the Mariners' senior vice president of corporate sponsorships, called PEMCO "an authentic relationship centered around shared values, commitment to community and deep ties to the Pacific Northwest," according to the Seattle Times.

PEMCO, founded in 1949 and headquartered in Seattle, serves customers exclusively in the Pacific Northwest. Forbes named it one of America's Best Insurance Companies for the fifth consecutive year in 2026.

The deal marks the first major corporate partnership for Mariners TV since the team shuttered Root Sports after the 2025 regular season, ending a broadcast relationship that stretched nearly 40 years under various network names dating to 1988.

Mariners chairman John Stanton announced the closure to Root Sports staff at the network's Bellevue headquarters on Monday, September 22, 2025. More than 25 employees were let go when the network officially shut down on Monday, November 3, 2025.

MLB now handles production and distribution of Mariners telecasts. Games air on Mariners.TV with Aaron Goldsmith and Angie Mentink on the call and are available through cable subscriptions, MLB.TV with no in-market blackouts, and Fubo.

The sponsorship arrives as the Mariners chase a playoff spot in the second half. Seattle sat at 51-53 entering play Friday, July 25, trailing the AL West-leading Texas Rangers by 1.5 games, according to MLB standings.

The trade deadline looms in early August, and the Mariners are in the middle of a four-game series at Texas running through Monday, July 27.
