A Seattle shop specializing in handmade Japanese housewares has opened its first Eastside location on the second floor of Bellevue Square, next to ROYCE' Chocolate.
MUTO, founded by owner Ryo, operates its original store at 1610 1st Ave. in Seattle.
The Bellevue Square shop is the brand's second location and first expansion beyond the city, according to the Downtown Bellevue Network on June 20.
The store stocks small-batch ceramics, kitchenware, stationery, and accessories sourced directly from Japanese makers and studios.
Shoppers will find matcha bowls, teacups, lamps, incense, enamel pins, notebooks, textiles, and hand towels, according to 425Business.com
According to a Corner.inc listing, owner Ryo sources all inventory directly from Japan, selecting items based on their popularity in the Japanese market or his own use.
MUTO is open 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily, according to the shop's Instagram page.
To mark the opening, MUTO hosted a Tanabata celebration and offered 10% off purchases through June 21. The store also ships worldwide through muto.shop.
