Bellevue's Spring District, Wilburton, BelRed and Overlake Village corridors will get overnight transit service for the first time when Sound Transit launches Route 547 on Saturday, Aug. 29.

The new night-owl bus will run every 30 minutes between midnight and 4:30 a.m., connecting Seattle to Redmond with stops near four Bellevue-area 2 Line stations: Wilburton, Spring District, Bel-Red and Overlake Village. The route also serves Judkins Park station in Seattle. East Main station will not be served. King County Metro will operate the route under contract with Sound Transit, Seattle Transit Blog reported Tuesday, Aug. 4.

Before Aug. 29, no transit option exists along the 2 Line corridor between Seattle and Redmond after trains stop running for the night.

That changes with Route 547.

Who benefits

The route fills a gap for thousands of workers in Bellevue's fastest-growing employment centers. Amazon alone has more than 15,000 employees in the city, up from 450 in 2017, according to the company's April 2026 announcement. The company has committed $22.6 million to local transportation projects, and its downtown Bellevue campus is anchored by the Spring District, one of the four Bellevue stations Route 547 will serve.

Without overnight transit, workers along the BelRed and Wilburton corridors have had to rely on cars or rideshares after trains stop running. Route 547 gives late-night restaurant, hospitality and tech employees a half-hourly option through the early morning hours.

Riders should note that stops are located near, not at, the 2 Line station platforms. Sound Transit describes the walk as "a short distance," though exact measurements have not been published.

Part of a larger overnight network

Route 547 is one of two new night-owl routes launching Aug. 29. The other, Route 597, will run between Seattle and Lakewood via Tacoma. The pair launches the same weekend Sound Transit discontinues its existing Route 570 airport night bus, which ends service Friday, Aug. 28.

Sound Transit originally proposed three overnight routes in 2025. A third route serving Everett has been delayed until 2027. The agency said it is working with its partners to expand night bus service but offered no timeline or explanation for the delay.

What's next

Sound Transit is exploring cuts to early-morning and late-night 2 Line train service in its 2027 Service Plan to allow more overnight track maintenance. If implemented, Route 547 would become the primary overnight transit link for Bellevue's employment corridors between Seattle and Redmond.
