TikTok is eliminating 75 jobs at its Lincoln Square North office in downtown Bellevue, hitting the e-commerce team the company built out during its push into in-app shopping.

The cuts, disclosed in a WARN notice filed Wednesday, Aug. 19, with Washington's Employment Security Department, carry an Oct. 19 separation date.

Job titles in the notice are almost entirely TikTok Shop and Global E-Commerce roles: anti-fraud and governance program managers, seller and creator operations staff, campaign managers, data scientists, and backend and frontend engineers.

TikTok Shop lets brands and creators sell products directly inside TikTok videos and livestreams, and the company had used Bellevue as a base for that business.

The Puget Sound Business Journal first reported the layoffs on Tuesday, Aug. 18.

Second straight year of local cuts

TikTok cut 65 Seattle-area jobs in 2025, split between 38 TikTok positions and 27 at parent company ByteDance. The current round marks the second consecutive year of reductions at the Bellevue office, located at 700 Bellevue Way NE.

TikTok had not responded to requests for comment on the Bellevue layoffs as of Wednesday. The size of the company's remaining local workforce is unknown.

Nashville closure preceded Bellevue round

TikTok announced Aug. 6 that it would permanently close its Nashville office and lay off all 250 workers there, most on content-moderation teams. That office, which occupied nearly 145,000 square feet in Nashville's Music Row neighborhood, will shut down Oct. 5. Spokesperson Zanna Crowley said Aug. 6 that the company was acting to "streamline our operations and better align our teams for long-term growth," according to TechCrunch.

TikTok's U.S. operations are now run by the TikTok USDS Joint Venture, formed in January after ByteDance spun out an American entity. Non-Chinese investors hold about 80 percent; ByteDance retains 19.9 percent.

Bellevue's tech layoff summer

The TikTok cuts extend a difficult stretch for Bellevue's tech workforce. Salesforce cut 59 jobs across its Seattle and Bellevue offices on Aug. 6. Visa laid off dozens of Bellevue workers on July 31, citing artificial intelligence. Microsoft eliminated 605 positions in Washington state in July as part of a broader 4,800-job reduction. Google cut 52 Washington state jobs on Aug. 5.

The 75 affected TikTok workers have until Oct. 19.
