The Seattle Seahawks' 1990s-era white throwback uniforms are coming back in 2027.
Neal Khosla, vice chair of the Seahawks, made the announcement at the Khosla family's introductory press conference at Lumen Field on Wednesday, Sept. 9. "We will bring those back for 2027, the white throwbacks," he said, according to the team's official website.
The white throwbacks will join the royal blue and apple green throwback uniforms the Seahawks debuted in 2023.
The addition fills out the four-uniform maximum the NFL allows each team per season, The Seattle Times reported.
The Seahawks' official account on X posted the news Sept. 9, drawing 9,441 likes and 1,058 retweets.
The uniform reveal was one of several pieces of news from the press conference. As we reported Sept. 10, controlling owner Neeru Khosla also pledged free AI tutoring for children at the same event.
Twelve new minority owners
The Khosla family also added 12 minority owners to the group. The number matches the team's iconic "12" fan branding.
The list includes Mark Stevens, the Aramburuzabala family, Val Blavatnik, Penny Pritzker, Sunny Gupta, Nader Naini, Samir Kaul, Sheryl Sokoloff, Gonzalo Hevia Baillères, Jesse van der Werf, and investment firms Carlyle and Dynasty Equity and Sixth Street, according to an Associated Press report.
Vinod Khosla, the team's chair, noted that some owners are from Seattle and that a couple of names were not disclosed at the individuals' request.
Vinod Khosla wrote on X on Sept. 4 that he was excited about the group's international makeup, calling the owners "American, Canadian, Indian, Mexican" and adding he hoped the diversity would make NFL football an international game.
The Khosla family closed its record $9.612 billion purchase of the Seahawks on Sept. 3, buying the franchise from the Paul G. Allen Estate. NFL owners approved the sale in Atlanta in late August.
The price surpassed the $6.05 billion paid for the Washington Commanders in 2023.
The family, which still lives in the Bay Area, has not yet completed the sale of its stake in the San Francisco 49ers.
Neeru Khosla said at the press conference that the family would "be here often," though they do not plan to relocate.
The Seahawks open their title defense as the fourth ownership group in franchise history.
